The next monthly meeting is Thursday, Apr. 9 at 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange (map).  Social time is 6:30-7:00 p.m., and the meeting begins at 7:00.

The guest speaker is Judy Ngying. Judy is a 28-year public school teacher, mother, and grandmother. She is also a labor union leader, organizer, and advocate. She taught chemistry at Pine Ridge High School and was on the opening crew for University High School in Orange City before choosing to leave Volusia County School District. She is currently an employee with Seminole County Schools.

Today, Judy teaches science at an public alternative school for children who have either been expelled or adjudicated by the courts. She believes that all children, regardless of their zip code or past transgressions, deserve what the Florida constitution states: a safe, secure, uniform, free, high quality public education.

She is a very proud grandmother of two young boys, both of whom have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. Learning disabilities, however, do not stop them from being creative, curious, and to love learning.

Judy rides her own Harley-Davidson motorcycle as she and her husband travel our beautiful communities. In addition to riding, she also enjoys cooking, hiking and bird watching. She believes everyone in Florida deserves the time and resources to appreciate this beautiful state of ours.
