Our speaker will be Byron White who is running for Volusia County Council, District Three. Byron grew up on a ranch near Samsula and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School. He was a lifeguard with Volusia County, starting at the age of 16. After high school, Byron went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Law from UCF and then a master’s degree from Loyola University New Orleans in Criminal Justice.
The candidate has served on the board of the Southeast Volusia Humane Society and is currently on the board of 1000 Friends of Florida, a land use advocacy group. He spent three years as the Resident Caretaker of the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. Byron is a life-long surfer, open water swimmer, and a proud dad who loves exploring the outdoors with his son.
Byron is a co-founder of Yaupon Brothers American Tea. He and his brother have planted over 300,000 trees since 2021 across four states. In 2023, his family revitalized Eagle’s Nest Farms, a Florida organic farm.
