Our speaker will be Nick Sakhnovsky. He is a Florida native who has maintained a deep connection to Volusia County since beginning regular visits for Bike Week in the mid-1990s, with a timeshare in New Smyrna Beach. Six years ago, Nick retired from a public service career in Broward County government to make his home in Daytona Beach’s Margaritaville with his wife, Alice.
Nick’s educational foundation includes a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in Government and Urban & Regional Studies, with graduate degrees from the University of Florida (law), Florida Atlantic University (educational leadership), and Florida State University (information studies). His diverse activities transportation planning, law, education, library services, and politics.
Community and professional involvement have been hallmarks of Nick’s commitment to public service throughout his career.
In December 2024 Nick was elected to a four-year term as chair of the Volusia Democratic Executive Committee and also pleased to be a member of the Volusia delegation to the state Florida Democratic Party. He enjoys working with all Volusia County Democrats toward winning elections and making a difference in 2026 and beyond.
